Comparison of social security in the Czech Republic and Sweden between 2013 and 2022 with a focus on the pension system

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce bylo komparovat český a švédský system sociálního zabezpečení v oblasti penzí v letech 2013-2022. Důvodem pro zvolení Švédska pro komparaci s českým systémem byla jeho podobná demografická struktura a provedená reforma na přelomu tisíciletí, která by se dala hodnotit za velmi úspěšnou. V rámci komparace byly popsány jednotlivé pilíře penzijního systému obou zemí a následně byla provedena analýza z hlediska demografické a finanční udržitelnosti. Z analýzy vyplynulo, že český systém není ve své současné podobě dlouhodobě udržitelný, a že by se mohl inspirovat švédským systémem, a to zejména ve větší orientaci na zásluhovost systému, obnovení druhého pilíře, potažmo zavedení prémiové penze, zavedení automatického vyrovnávacího mechanismu a zflexibilnění věku odchodu do penze.

Abstract:

The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to compare the Czech and Swedish social security system with focus on pensions between the years 2013 and 2022. The reason for choosing Sweden for comparison with the Czech system was its similar demographic structure and its pension reform executed at the turn of the millennium, which can be described as very successful. Individual pillars of the pension systems of both countries are described within the comparison followed by demographic and financial analysis. The analysis showed that the Czech system in its current form is not sustainable in the long term, and that it could be inspired by the Swedish system, especially in a greater orientation to contribution, the restoration of the second pillar or the introduction of a premium pension, the introduction of an automatic balancing mechanism and the flexibility of the age retirement.
