The satisfaction of seniors with the care in the home for the elderly

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou spokojenosti seniorů v ústavní péči. Teoreticky rozebírá oblasti stáří a stárnutí. Dále pak potřeby a spokojenost seniorů. Vysvětluje, jak souvisí naplňování potřeb se spokojeností, ale také které další faktory spokojenost seniorů ovlivňují. Práce také nabízí informace o ústavní péči, především o ústavní péči o seniory. Upozorňuje na rizika života v instituci a na co je třeba se v takové péči o seniory zaměřit. Druhá část práce představuje výsledky kvantitativního výzkumu, který byl realizován v konkrétním Domově pro seniory za účelem zjištění, jak jsou klienti Domova pro seniory spokojeni s ústavní péčí. Výzkum se zaměřuje jak na spokojenost s jednotlivými oblastmi ústavní péče (personál, bydlení a hotelové služby, stravování, programy a aktivity a mezilidské vztahy), tak na celkovou spokojenost. Také zkoumá, jestli vybrané faktory (pohlaví, věk, délka pobytu, stravování, spokojenost s vlastním zdravotním stavem a spokojenost s vlastní životní situací) mají vliv na spokojenost seniorů.

Abstract:

The work is focused on the issue of the satisfaction of the seniors in the institutional care. It theoretically analyzes the old age, aging, needs and satisfaction of the seniors. It explains not only how the fulfillment of needs is connected with the satisfaction is but also which other factors influence the satisfaction. Afterwards the work offers a theoretical base about the institutional care with the primary focus on the seniors. It draws the attention to the risks of life in the institution and what is necessary to be aware of. The second part of the work presents the results of the quantitative research which was done in the concrete Home for the elderly for the purpose of finding out how are the clients of the home for the elderly satisfied with the institutional care. The research is focused on the satisfaction with the areas of the care (the personnel, the housing and hotel services, the food, programs and activities and interpersonal relationships) and also with overall care. As well it researches if the chosen factors (the gender, the age, the length of the stay, the satisfaction with their own health and the satisfaction with their own life situations) affect the satisfaction of the seniors.
