Current Challenges for an Informal Long-term Care in Respect of Ageing - a Comparison of Italy and the Czech Republic

Anotace:

The thesis has investigated the issue of ageing population in the developed world, when it was possible focusing on Czech Republic and Italy, the current situations and the future trends. According to the data, mainly secondary ones, the main goal was to show though this matter will be sustainable in the future and in which way. The conclusions are based on four main and general pillars: - For pursuing the quality of care, the approach has to go toward home care and services; - For pursuing efficiency and effectiveness, the approach is inclusive oriented, by including all the stakeholders. Formally, it means to connect the Ministry of Health Care to the Ministry of Social Affairs; - For the intergenerational and intra-generational equity (and for the sustainability of the system in general), the solution proposed by the research is a compulsory LTC insurance for all citizens; - Building age-friendly communities is necessary to make the elderly active subjects, by considering them as a resource and not only as burden.
