Uranium mining and overall mining in Europe is in decline for years. Even though indirectly, paradoxically this industry still occupies large number of people – but from field of research. Mining usually causes high environmental burden and after its finishing is most reasonable to flood a deposit. Ťažba uránu a celkovo akákoľvek ťažba v Európe je už dlhé roky na ústupe. Aj keď nepriamo, toto odvetvie paradoxne stále zamestnáva veľký počet ľudí – avšak z oblasti výskumu. Ťažba spravidla spôsobuje vysokú environmentálnu záťaž a po jej ukončení je najrozumnejším postupom, že sa ložisko zatopí.
