This MA diploma thesis provides a study of three notable characters of the American literature of the nineteenth and early twentieth century: Gertrude Flint (Maria S. Cumminsʼs The Lamplighter), Daisy Miller (Henry Jamesʼs Daisy Miller) and Lily Bart (Edith Whartonʼs The House of Mirth).
