Status of the Greek Ethnic Minority in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Abstrakt: Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o řecké národnostní menšině v České republice. Hlavním cílem je přiblížit našim občanům, především mladší generaci, řeckou menšinu, která žije v České republice. V teoretické části je vysvětlen význam nejdůležitějších pojmů. Dále je objasněno, za jakých okolností přišli etničtí Řekové do tehdejšího Československa a jak se asimilovali do české společnosti. Praktická část se zaměřuje na život Řeků, kteří se usadili nebo již jako nová generace vyrůstali ve Dvoře Králové nad Labem. K dosažení cílů práce byla použita výzkumná metoda rozhovoru. Práce obsahuje získané poznatky o tradicích, zvycích, kultuře, tradičních jídlech a stravovacích návycích, které si sebou Řekové přinesli a přechovávají je do současné doby.

Abstract:

Abstract: This thesis is dealing with the Greek ethnic minority in the Czech Republic. Its main target is to describe the Greek ethnic minority living in the Czech Republic to our citizens, primarily to younger generation. Teoretical part of the thesis explains the key concepts. The next part of the thesis explains the circumstances under which ethnic Greeks had arrived in the then Czechoslovakia and how they assimilated into the Czech society. Practical part of the thesis concerns lifestyle of Greeks who settled down or, as a new generation, grew up in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. To achieve the goal of the thesis, research method of an interview was used. The thesis covers findings about the tradition, customs, culture, traditional dishes and eating habits which Greeks had brought with them and which they keep so far.
