Cross-border mobility of Masaryk University students with focus on the Erasmus Programme

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje přeshraniční mobilitě studentů v rámci programu Erasmus(+), přičemž pozornost je soustředěna primárně na účastníky z Masarykovy univerzity. Hlavním cílem práce je analýza sociálně-prostorových a percepčních aspektů programu se zaměřením na sociální mobilitu, formování vztahu k (novému) prostředí a na souvislost s pracovní migrací. Teoreticky orientovaná část práce podává všeobecné informace o mobilitě evropských studentů a jejím vývoji, o principu fungování programu Erasmus, resp. Erasmus+ a o účasti České republiky a Masarykovy univerzity v něm. Empirická část vychází z dotazníkového šetření mezi studenty MU a z jejich vnímání a hodnocení programu. Průzkum poukázal například na silnou vazbu studentů k místu pobytu, vysokou ochotu k migraci a na to, že výhoda na trhu práce je v souvislosti s programem spatřována v získání a zlepšení určitých kompetencí. Závěrečná část práce obsahuje shrnutí získaných poznatků a jejich komparaci s výsledky jiných studií.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with a cross-border mobility of students within the Erasmus(+) Programme with attention focused primarily on the participants from the Masaryk University. The main aim of the thesis is to analyse social-spatial and perceptional aspects of the programme with a focus on social mobility, place attachment formation and connection with labour migration. The theoretically oriented part of the thesis gives overall information about mobility of European students and its historical development, fundamental principles of the implementation of the Erasmus or Erasmus+ Programme and about participation of the Czech Republic and of the Masaryk University. The empirical part is based on the questionnaire survey carried out among students of the MU and on their perception and evaluation of the programme. The survey pointed out for instance a strong attachment of students to the place of stay, their great readiness for migration and the fact, that benefit at the labour market is in relation to the programme seen in gaining and improvement of certain competences. The closing part of the thesis contains summary of gained findings and their comparison to results of other studies.
