Geography of night

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje nočnímu časoprostoru, jeho specifikám a typickým projevům v urbánním prostoru. V sociální geografii se jedná o nepříliš probádané téma a v této práci jsou naznačeny různé možné směry výzkumu v dílčích socio-geografických oblastech. Tmavá část dne se v určitých způsobech liší od světlé části a tyto způsoby jsou postupně diskutovány a s pomocí příkladů zasazovány do konkrétních míst a časů. Empirická část ukazuje na příkladu Brna noční místa a odhaluje vztahy, které mezi těmito místy fungují. Vnímání noci je založeno na představách a zkušenostech a formuje obraz noci jako unikátní prostor plný specifických jevů a aktivit.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study night-time and night space, its specifics and typical shows in urban space. This topic is not very researched in social geography and there are implied various possible trends of research in partial social geographical disciplines in this thesis. A dark part of day is differed from light part in many ways and these ways are discussed and located to concrete places and times. The empirical part of this thesis shows the night-places in Brno and exposes relationships between them. A perception of night is based on ideas and experiences and it shapes the image of night as unique space full of specific phenomenons and activities.
