Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl kritické vysvětlení a vyložení vzájemných vztahů mezi občanskou společností, demokracií a médii, což jsou pojmy, které se mezi sebou prolínají a vzájemně se ovlivňují. Dané téma je probráno na základě klíčových prací tří vybraných politických filozofů, jimiž jsou německo-americká filosofka Hannah Arendtová, německý filozof a sociolog Jürgen Habermas a americký právník a politický aktivista Cass Sunstein. Práce je rozdělena na čtyři stěžejní kapitoly. První z nich se věnuje základním definicím a pojmům týkajícím se občanské společnosti, médií a demokracie. Druhá kapitola představuje koncepty Arendtové, Habermase a Sunsteina, s bližším zaměřením na koncept veřejné sféry a na demokracii v období sociálních médií. Třetí kapitola analyzuje vztah mezi veřejností, demokracií a médii v návaznosti na vývoj jednotlivých pojmů, které tento vztah určují. Nakonec poslední kapitola porovnává jednotlivé koncepty a nabízí diskuzi o zvolené problematice.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis aim to critically explain the interrelationships between civil society, democracy and the media, which are concepts that intertwine and interact with each other. The topic is discussed on the basis of the key works of three selected political philosophers, which are the German-American philosopher Hannah Arendt, the German philosopher and sociologist Jürgen Habermas and the American lawyer and political activist Cass Sunstein. The work is divided into four main chapters. The first deals with basic definitions and concepts related to civil society, media and democracy. The second chapter presents the concepts of Arendt, Habermas and Sunstein, with a closer focus on the concept of the public sphere and democracy in the period of social media. The third chapter analyzes the relationship between the public, democracy and the media in relation to the development of individual concepts that determine this relationship. Finally, the last chapter compares the various concepts and offers a discussion about the selected issues.
