Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou používání násilného jazyka v rapu. Ve této studii je zkoumáno dvacet pět písní afroamerických rapperů na základě míry násilí. Konkrétně se jedná o tři písně z 80. let, jedenáct z 90. let, čtyři z nultých let, a sedm z desátých a dvacátých let dvacátého prvního století. Značná část této práce se zabý-vá sub žánrem hip hopu, gangsta rapem, který výrazně ovlivnil vývoj rapové hudby jako celku. Při zkoumání násilí zobrazovaného v rapu jsou uváděny odkazy na kul-turní a historické koncepty, které dále napomáhají v objasnění zmíněných jevů.

Abstract:

This Master’s thesis attempts to analyze the usage of violent language in rap music. Twenty-five songs by African American rappers are scrutinized in the study based on the degree of violence. Specifically, three songs from the 1980s, eleven from the 1990s, four from the 2000s, and seven from the 2010s and the 2020s. A sizeable por-tion of the thesis deals with hip hop’s subgenre, gangsta rap, which firmly influenced the development of rap music as a whole. In the investigation of violence as por-trayed in rap music, references are made to cultural and historical concepts that fur-ther assist with clarification of said phenomena.
