Generation Z Slang. Sociolinguistic analysis.

Abstract:

Language is without question one of the most important aspects of human life and the unmistakeably human need to be creative with everything, including language, is the main idea that inspired this thesis. In this bachelors thesis we aim to introduce one special way of language alteration and that is slang, specifically slang of Generation Z. First and foremost we define what is slang in general, how it is created and how it affects the society. Then we move on to defining Generation Z, who they are and how they talk. Last but not least, in the practical part of this thesis, we will focus on the issue of intergenerational (mis)understanding.

Abstract:

Řeč je bezesporu jednou z nejpodstatnějších aspektů lidského života. Zřejmá a všudypřítomná lidská potřeba tvořit a být kreativní ve všem, včetně jazyka, je tou hlavní myšlenkou, která inspirovala tuto práci. V této bakalářské práci si klademe za cíl představit jeden speciální způsob alterace jazyka a tím je slang, konkrétně slang Generace Z. Nejprve obecně definujeme, co je slang, jak se tvoří a jak ovlivňuje společnost. Poté se přesuneme ke Generaci Z, kdo jsou a jak mluví. V neposlední řadě, v praktické části této práce, se zaměříme na problematiku mezigeneračního (ne)porozumění.
