The enhancement of data reporting for the Warranty department of Skoda Auto

Abstract:

Primárním cílem této diplomové práce je rozšířit škálu reportingu oddělení Garance Škoda Auto. Tento cíl se skládá z dílčích cílů, kterými jsou analýza současného stavu vydefinovaných problémů, samotná tvorba požadovaných řešení a jejich úpravy na základě zpětné vazby zadavatelů a uživatelů. Vytvoření reportů zároveň pomůže optimalizovat procesy v rámci oddělení, čehož se mimo poskytnutí reportů pro podporu data-driven rozhodování docílí také snížením nutnosti rutinních manuálních kroků zaměstnanců, prostřednictvím jejich automatizace. Dva ze tří nových funkčních dashboardů jsou vytvořeny v nástroji SAP Lumira Designer, zatímco třetí je implementován v nástroji Power BI. Nové dashboardy kromě poskytování nových poznatků rozšiřují uživatelskou základnu pro daná data. Zároveň za účelem optimalizace procesů oddělení vzniká také automatizovaný excelový soubor, který snižuje nutnost manuálních kroků zaměstnanců oddělení při jedné z jejich rutinních náplní práce. Při řešení definovaných problémů autor práce vycházel z teorie pro metodiku Business Intelligence řešení. Na základě této metodiky proto nejprve vznikla úvodní studie hodnotící aktuální stav jednotlivých problémů, na jejímž základě byl následně vytvořen návrh jednotlivých řešení. Další kapitola popisuje validaci a zpětnou vazbu na nově vznikající řešení. Poté byla popsána samotná implementace navržených řešení, jejich zavedení do provozu a související implikace do budoucna.

Abstract:

The primary goal of this master thesis is to enhance the capabilities of reporting in the Warranty department of Škoda Auto. This goal consists of several partial tasks, which are the analysis of the current state of the defined issues, the creation of requested solutions and their modifications based on feedback from assignors and users. The creation of the new reports will also help optimize the departments’ processes, not only by supplying the means for data-driven decision making, but also by reducing the necessity for manual operations by employees using automatization. Two out of the three newly functional dashboards are created in the tool SAP Lumira Designer, while the third dashboard is implemented in Power BI. Apart from providing additional insights, the new dashboards also widen the user base for this data. Also, an automatized Excel file is created, for the purpose of reducing the necessity of manual inputs by employees while they work on one of their regular agendas. While solving the defined problems, the author of this thesis followed methodology for creating Business Intelligence solutions. Based on this methodology an introductory study was created first, assessing the present state of the individual issues. Solutions were then consequently designed based on this study. The following chapter describes the validation and feedback processes regarding the newly created solutions. The last part of the thesis describes the implementation of the solution itself and the related implications of the newly created solutions.
