Evaluation of activities of daily living in patients with dementia

Abstract:

Cíl: S věkem narůstá prevalence demence. Vzhledem k tomu, že toto onemocnění patří mezi onemocnění nevyléčitelná, představuje významný problém pro systém dlouhodobé péče. Cílem studie bylo zhodnotit soběstačnost u pacientů s demencí a to, jak v oblastech základních, tak i v oblastech instrumentálních všedních činností. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 137 respondentů Domova seniorů Havířov Helios a Luna a Domova Březiny v Petřvaldě. Vstupními kritérií byl věk nad 65 let, stanovena diagnóza demence a ústní souhlas klienta se zpracováním dat. Kvantitativní výzkum byl proveden formou standardizovaných dotazníků, které byly doplněny o demografická data. K hodnocení soběstačnosti byl použit BADLS-CZ dotazník a k hodnocení kognitivních funkcí byl použit MMSE test. Dotazníkové šetření probíhalo ve dvou etapách s tříměsíčním odstupem. Výsledky: Studie potvrdila významnou korelaci mezi hodnocením soběstačnosti a kognitivních funkcí. Z výsledků je patrné, že soběstačnost je ovlivněna věkem, vzděláním a délkou pobytu v sociálním zařízení. Dále bylo prokázáno, že pohlaví nemá vliv na výsledky soběstačnosti. Jednotlivé aktivity denního života byly po tříměsíčním odstupu zhoršeny ve všech položkách kromě přípravy jídla. Závěr: Soběstačnost má rozhodující vliv na zajištění činností běžného života. Její ztráta má za následek především zhoršení kvality života. Krokem vpřed je využití kvalitních standardizovaných dotazníků, které by s přesností a včas mohly detekovat problém v této oblasti.

Abstract:

Objective: Dementia prevalence increases with age. Due to the fact that these diseases are among the diseases incurable, represents a significant problem for a system of long-term care. Aim of the study was to evaluate the activities of daily living in patients with dementia, and how in the fields of basic, as well as in the fields of instrumental. Methodology: A research file consisted of 137 respondents Home seniors Havířov Helios and Luna and Home Březina in Petřvald. Input criteria was age over 65 years, the diagnosis of dementia and oral consent to the processing of client data. Quantitative research was carried out in the form of standardised questionnaires, which were supplemented by demographic data. For the evaluation of activities of daily living was used BADLS-CZ questionnaire and to evaluate cognitive function was used to test the MMSE. Public opinion survey was carried out in two stages, with the passage of three months. Results: The study confirmed a significant correlation between evaluation of activities of daily living and cognitive function. From the results, it is evident that self-sufficiency is influenced by age, education, and the length of stay in the bathroom. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that gender has no effect on the results of self-sufficiency. The various activities of daily living have been around for three months, exacerbated by arm's length in all items in addition to the preparation of meals. Conclusion: Self-sufficiency has a decisive influence on the activities of daily living. Her loss has resulted in a deterioration in the quality of life in particular. A step forward is the use of high-quality standardized questionnaires that would be with precision and in a timely manner may detect a problem in this area.
