Georgia's economic integration into the EU

Abstract:

Cílem mé bakalářské práce bylo vysvětlit pojem a proces ekonomické integrace a analyzovat dopady ekonomické integrace na obchodní vztahy mezi Gruzií a Evropskou unií. Gruzie je jedna s posledních zemí, které podaly přihlášku do Unie. Práce ukázala na různé aspekty, které hrají svou roli v současném vztahu mezi touto zemí a EU a které mohou její přijetí do EU výrazně ovlivnit, a to spíše negativně. V první části bakalářské práce jsou v teoretické rovině objasněny pojmy vztahující se k ekonomické integraci obecně. V druhé části, která je nejobsáhlejší, jsou popsány jednotlivé historické události, které v minulosti měly vliv na vývoj vztahů mezi Gruzií a EU. Pozornost je věnována především vzájemným dohodám a smlouvám uzavřenými mezi oběma stranami a analýze vývoje vzájemných obchodních vztahů. Poslední třetí část je zaměřena na samotnou Gruzii, její současný stav ze sociálního a politického hlediska. Různé, v kapitole popsané, sociální a politické problémy, se kterými se Gruzie stále potýká, mohou mít vliv na přiblížení se jejího vstupu do Evropské unie. Ze získaných dat o vzájemném obchodě, z informací o Gruzii a jejích vztazích s EU lze usuzovat, že se od vzniku Gruzie obchodní ale i politické vztahy posunuly výrazně kupředu.

Abstract:

The aim of my bachelor's thesis was to explain the concept and process of economic integration and to analyse the effects of economic integration on trade relations between Georgia and the European Union. Georgia is one of the last countries to apply to join the Union. The thesis pointed out various aspects that play a role in the current relationship between this country and the EU and that can significantly affect its admission to the EU, rather negatively. In the first part of the bachelor thesis, the concepts related to economic integration in general are explained at the theoretical level. The second part, which is the most comprehensive, describes the various historical events that have had an impact on the development of relations between Georgia and the EU in the past. Attention is paid in particular to the mutual agreements and treaties concluded between the two sides and the analysis of the development of mutual trade relations. The last third part focuses on Georgia itself, its current state from a social and political point of view. The various social and political problems that Georgia is still facing, as described in the chapter, may have an impact on its approaching accession to the European Union. From the data collected on mutual trade, information on Georgia and its relations with the EU, it can be concluded that trade and political relations have moved on considerably since Georgia's formation.
