Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Reakce trhu na změnu ve složení vybraného akciového indexu“ je prozkoumat vliv indexového efektu na index S&P 500. Na toto téma bylo napsáno několik vědeckých prací pokoušejících se vliv vysvětlit, avšak ne vždy se ve svých závěrech shodují. Cílem práce je tedy studium dostupné literatury a následně provedení event study na praktickém příkladu. Testováno bylo, zda akcie zařazené (vyřazené) do (z) indexu generují pozitivní (negativní) abnormální výnos. Na závěr je zhodnocen vliv indexového efektu a zda naše výsledky podporují některou z existujících hypotéz.

Abstract:

The goal of the master thesis “Market reactions associated with changes in the composition of the selected index” is to investigate the index effect on S&P500 index. The has been numerous researches attempting to examine the impact on index, but not always they came to the same conclusion. The goal of the thesis is to analyse literature and different theories and consequently perform an event study. An event study methodology has been utilized to test whether the stocks included (excluded) in (from) index generate positive (negative) abnormal return. Finally, the impact of index effect is evaluated and whether our findings supports certain existing hypotheses.
