Nurses' Knowledge of Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zjišťuje rozsah znalostí sester na operačních sálech vybraných nemocnic o možných způsobech laparoskopické operace tříselné kýly a jejich vnímání perioperační péče o pacienty. Teoretická část se zabývá historií a současností řešení nejrozšířenějšího kýlního defektu, tedy tříselné kýly, především z hlediska laparoskopické metody. Dále navazuje popis anatomie tříselné oblasti, související operační metodiky a také rozebírá možné komplikace laparoskopického způsobu operace. Teorie dále zahrnuje členění a popis různých typů kýlních sítěk a jejich související následnou fixací. Neopomenutelnou oblast teoretické části představuje i problematika perioperační péče o pacienty. Praktická část je zpracována metodou kvantitativního průzkumného šetření. Toto šetření je formou dotazníků, které byly předloženy sestrám na operačních sálech vybraných nemocnic. Otázky šetření byly zkonstruovány tak, aby zmapovaly přehled a rozsah znalostí sester na operačních sálech o tříselné kýle a o jejích možnostech laparoskopicky prováděné operace, jejich orientaci v sortimentu a užívání kýlních sítěk včetně jejich fixací, či hodnocení průběhu perioperační péče o pacienty. Prozradí nám také jak své znalosti a dovednosti nabyly, v čem spatřují pokrok či úskalí výše zmíněných oblastí, jak na ně celá tato problematika působí a jakým způsobem ji vnímají.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis investigates the extent of nurses' knowledge on possible methods of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair in selected hospitals' operating rooms, and the nurses' perception of perioperative patient care. The theoretical part deals with the past and present most common solutions to treating hernial defect, i. e. inguinal hernia, focusing on the laparoscopic method. In this thesis I also describe anatomy of the inguinal area, related operating methods, and analyse possible complications of laparoscopic surgery. The theory also includes the division and description of various types of trusses nets and related subsequent fixation. The issue of perioperative patient care also represents an inevitable part of the theoretical area. The practical part is executed by quantitative exploratory investigation method. This survey is carried out in form of questionnaires which were presented to nurses in operating rooms in selected hospitals. Survey questions were designed to research and map the extent of nurses' knowledge of inguinal hernia and the possibilities of laparoscopically performed operations treating inguinal hernia, and also to find out nurses' orientation in the selection and use of nets trusses including fixation or evaluation of perioperative patient care. The survey also reveals how nurses acquired their knowledge and skills, their opinions on what part of the abovementioned areas has seen progress and what part has experienced difficulties and what they generally think about this issue and how they perceive it.
