Altarpieces John Quirin Jahn (1739-1802)

Abstract:

V práci se zabývám oltářními obrazy Jana Quirina Jahna, umělce přechodového období doznívajícího rokoka a nastupujícího klasicizmu. Po obecném úvodu, charakterizujícím oltářní malbu druhé poloviny 18. století, následují životopisná data a okolnosti, které ovlivnily malířovu tvorbu v dobovém kontextu. Kapitola věnovaná oltářním obrazům je chronologicky řazena dle vzniku jednotlivých děl s přihlédnutím k jejich lokaci, atribuci, ikonografickému a slohovému rozboru.

Abstract:

In my work I focus on the altarpieces of Jan Quirin Jahn, an artist who was active during the transitional period between late Rococo and early Classicism. A general introduction characterising altar painting of the second half of the 18th century is followed by biographical information and the circumstances that influenced the artist’s work in its period context. The chapter devoted to altarpieces is chronologically arranged according to the date the works were painted, taking into account their location, attribution and an analysis of their iconography and style.
