Time resolved diagnostics of microwave pulsed plasma

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce byla věenována studiu filamentace mikrovlnného atmosférického výboje s povrchovou vlnou, zejména pak její kontrole a ovlivnění, a to i s ohledem na možné aplikace. Diagnostika byla prováděna zejména optickými metodami pokrývajícími spektrální rozlišení (OES), prostorové rozlišení (digitální fotoaparát), tak i časové rozlišení (rychlá kamera). Ukázalo se, že filamentaci lze ovlivnit řízením výkonu, a proto byl výboj buzen jak kontinuálním, tak i amplitudově modulovaným výkonem. ȁást práce se zabývá přímým využitím amplitudové modulace (AM) v aplikacích, konkretně pak v oblasti modifikace povrchů. Byla testována plazmová úprava povrchu polyamidu za účelem zvýšení povrchové energie, plazmová depozice za přítomnosti organosilikonového prekurzoru se symetrickou strukturou tvořeného velkými molekulami, a také plazmová syntéza nanočástic oxidů železa. Ve všech těchto oblastech se amplitudová modulace výkonu ukázala jako vhodný nástroj pro ovlivnění plazmo-chemických reakcí.

Abstract:

The first part of the PhD thesis is dedicated to the study of filamentation of the microwave surface wave discharge at atmospheric pressure, in particularly its control with outlook to applications. Diagnostics were carried out mainly by optical methods covering spectral resolution (optical emission spectroscopy), spatial-resolution (digital camera) and time-resolved resolution (fast camera). It was discovered that filamentation can be controlled by the input power and therefore the discharge was fed not only by continuous but also by amplitude modulated input power. The second part of the thesis focuses on direct use of the amplitude modulation in applications, specifically in the area of the surface modifications. Plasma surface modification of the polyamide for increasing of the surface energy, plasma deposition using organosilicon precursor with large molecule and highly symmetric structure and also the plasma synthesis of the iron oxide nano-particles were tested. In all of these application areas the amplitude modulation of the input power was found as a suitable tool positively influencing the plasma-chemical reactions.
