Johnny Kitagawa and his media image

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to find out the attitude of Japanese and foreign media towards Johnny Kitagawa, who was one of the most important figures of the Japanese entertainment. The main sources will consist of articles from news companies like Shūkan Bunshun and Asahi Shimbun, and books written by former talents working under Kitagawa’s talent agency Johnny’s jimusho. In the first part of the work, I will introduce Johnny Kitagawa and Johnny’s jimusho. Then I analyse the books and individual Japanese and foreign articles. In the conclusion, I summarise and compare the impressions between the Japanese and western media.

Abstract:

Cieľom práce je zistiť postoj japonských a zahraničných médií voči Johnnymu Kitagawovi, ktorý bol jednou z najvýznamnejších osobností japonského zábavného priemyslu. Hlavnými zdrojmi budú články od novinových spoločností ako sú Šúkan Bunšun a Asahi Šinbun, a knižné publikácie napísané bývalými talentmi pracujúcimi pod Kitagawovou talentovou agentúrou Johnny’s džimušo. V prvej časti práce priblížim Johnnyho Kitagawu a Johnny’s džimušo. Následne sa venujem analýze knižných publikácií a jednotlivých japonských a zahraničných článkoch. Na záver zhŕňam a porovnávam dojmy medzi japonskými a západnými médiami.
