The beetle fauna of cavities with wood mould in oaks at Pohansko

Abstract:

V roce 2010 bylo pomocí padacích pastí zkoumáno společenstvo brouků stromových dutin ve starých dubech na lokalitě Pohansko, v zátopové oblasti nad soutokem Moravy a Dyje na jižní Moravě. Bylo vybráno 22 dubů s dutinou ve výšce 1,5 m až 7 m nad zemí a to tak, aby šly rozdělit na dva typy stanoviště, tj. stromy na louce (osluněné) a stromy v lesním zápoji (zastíněné), a mohl být hodnocen vliv typu stanoviště. Bylo chyceno 886 jedinců z 86 druhů. Původní hypotéza byla, že dutiny stromů na louce budou hostit více druhů kvůli větší míře vystavení slunečnímu záření, tudíž i vyšší teplotě. Nalezený trend byl však opačný, s větším počtem jedinců i vyšší druhovou diverzitou v dutinách zastíněných dubů. Celkového počtu jedinců ohrožených druhů bylo signifikantně více v dutinách v lese (Mannův-Whitneyho U-test), celkový počet jedinců všech druhů brouků byl v lese téměř signifikantně vyšší, rovněž tak počet jedinců druhů Gnorimus variabilis a Ptinus schlerethi. Ostatní rozdíly v početnosti druhů byly statisticky nesignifikantní. Složení taxocenózy bylo hodnoceno i z hlediska trofických a habitatových nároků. Bylo zjištěno 23 druhů uvedených v Červeném seznamu druhů České republiky. Některé odchycené druhy jsou významné pro ochranu přírody jak z hlediska vlastního ohrožení, tak jako indikátory ochranářsky cenných lesních biotopů a kontinuity zalesnění. Mezi odchycené ochranářsky významné druhy patří především Eurythrea quercus, Ampedus cardinalis, Elater ferugineus, Osmoderma barnabita, Gnorimus variabilis, Aesalus scaraboides a Tenebrio opacus.

Abstract:

In 2010, the beetle assemblage of tree cavities in old oaks was studied by means of pitfall trapping at the locality Pohansko, on the floodplain upstream of the confluence of the Morava and Dyje rivers in South Moravia, Czech Republic. A total of 22 oaks with cavities at a height betwen 1.5 m and 7 m above ground was selected in such a way that these could be devided into two groups according to habitat, i.e. into trees on meadows (insolated) and trees in forest stands (shaded). The objective was to assess the effect of habitat type. A total of 886 individuals of 86 species was captured. The original hypothesis was that cavities in trees on meadows would host more species due to higher insolation levels and thus higher temperatures. However, the found trend was the opposite, with higher abundance and species diversity in cavities of shaded oaks. The total number of individuals belonging to threatened species was significantly higher in cavities in the forest (Mann-Whitney U-test), the total abundance of all beetle species was almost significantly higher in the forests than in the meadows, the same applied to the abundances of Gnorimus variabilis and Ptinus schlerethi. Other differences between abundances of species were not statistically significant. The composition of the assemblage was also evaluated in terms of trophic and habitat requirements. Twentythree species listed in the Red List of Species of the Czech Republic were found. Some of the captured species were important for nature conservation in terms of their own status and as indicators for valuable forest habitats and the continuity of forestation. Among the captured species of high conservation value were foremost Eurythrea quercus, Ampedus cardinalis, Elater ferugineus, Osmoderma barnabita, Gnorimus variabilis, Aesalus scaraboides, and Tenebrio opacus.
