Trams in Brno - spatio-temporal aspects of services on radial routes

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozvojem tramvajové sítě v Brně a zaměřuje se na časoprostorové změny radiálních tratí spojujících okraje města s centrem. Tramvajové radiály lze charakterizovat jejich hlavními i dalšími funkcemi pro okolí. Podle převažující funkce, např. bydlení, průmyslová funkce, smíšená funkce, byla navržena typologie radiál. Podrobněji byly sledovány vybrané typické radiály z Masarykovy čtvrti, Lesné, Technologického parku, Bystrce a Modřic. Hlavní metodický postup je založen na analýze a srovnání údajů z historických a současných jízdních řádů z r. 1957, 1972, 1988, 2003 a 2018. Jako indikátor obsluhy radiály byl použit výpočet průměrných intervalů mezi odjezdy spojů během hodiny na vybrané radiále v pracovních a nepracovních dnech. Sumarizování, srovnání a grafické znázornění získaných dat ukazuje existující trendy v režimu obsluhy vybraných tramvajových radiál a jejich souvislost s širší sociální situací, prostorovým růstem a měnící se strukturou města Brna v minulých šedesáti letech.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the development of the tram network in Brno and focuses on the spatio-temporal changes of the radial routes connecting the city edges with the centre. Brno tram radials were characterized by their main and other functions and services for the surrounding territory .The radials typology was created on their prevailing function e.g. with housing, industrial and mixed function. More details were studied about selected representing radials from the Masarykova čtvrť, Lesná, Technologický park, Bystrc and Modřice. The main methodical approach was based on analysis and comparison of years 1957, 1972, 1988, 2003 and 2018 data from historical and current tram timetables. The calculation of the average departures interval in the course of one hour on a certain observed radial (on working and non-working days) was utilized as the indicator of the radial‘s servicing. Summarizing, comparison and graphical representation of obtained data indicated existing trends in the selected tram radials servising regime and their context with broader social situation, spatial growth and changing structure of the city Brno in the past 60 years.
