Pedological and chemical characteristics of weathering profiles developed in the migmatites from Moldanubicum and Svratka Unit

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce je zaměřena na komplexní studium čtyř zvětralinových profilů vyvinutých na migmatitech. Dva profily (191GCB0003 a 191GCB0004), které byly převzaté z bakalářské práce, leží ve východní části moldanubika jižně od Třebíče a zbylé dva (R-1 a Z-1) leží na hranici moldanubika a svrateckého krystalinika u Nového Města na Moravě. Na každé z lokalit byl vykopán a popsán zvětralinový profil od podložní horniny až k povrchu. Vzorky byly podrobeny gamaspektrometrii, laserové granulometrie a RFA. Granulometrické analýza ukázala poměrně malou variabilitu v zastoupení jílovité frakce., Na třech profilech (191GCB0003, 191GCB0004 a R-1) dominuje prachovitá frakce a na jednom profilu (Z-1) je množství prachovité a písčité frakce podobné. Půdy všech čtyř profilů lze zařadit mezi kambizemi modální. Z CIA indexu vyplývá, že studované profily vykazují mírný až středně pokročily stupeň zvětrávání. Během zvětrávání dochází k alteraci biotitu na chlorit a rozpadu živců na jílové minerály mezi nimiž dominoval kaolinit. Většina studovaných profilů vznikla zvětráváním migmatitů in situ. Pouze zvětralinový profil 191GCB0003 byly patrně modifikovány sekundárním transportem svahovými pohyby a/nebo příměsí eolického materiálu. Petrografická variabilita migmatitů stejně tak jako odlišná intenzita zvětrávání ovlivňují výslednou distribuci prvků ve zvětralinových profilech. Zastoupení K2O, Na2O je výrazně ovlivněno množstvím jílových minerálů vzniklých zvětráváním živců a také množstvím chloritu, který vznikl na úkor biotitu. Variabilita v koncentracích Th a U v rámci jednotlivých profilů je patrně výrazněji ovlivněna lokálními kumulacemi akcesorických minerálů (většinou uzavřených v chloritu). Nepodařilo se nalézt důkazy pro významnou akumulaci těchto radioaktivních prvků v sekundárních minerálech. Porovnání tří různých analytických metod (ICP-MS, RFA a gamaspektrometrie) prokázalo, že pro studium půdních profilů je v případě měření K, Th, U poskytuje podstatně lepší výsledky metoda gamaspektrometrie ve srovnání s metodou RFA. Pro případné budoucí využití RFA při měření půdních profilů bude nutné v budoucnu vypracovat vhodnější metodiku.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the study of weathering profiles developed on migmatites. Two of these profiles (191GCB0003, 191GCB0004), which were evaluated in the authors' bachelor thesis, are located in the eastern part of the Moldanubicum, south from the Třebíč. The other two profiles lie on the boundary of the Moldanubicum and Svratka Crystalline Unit, near the Nové Město na Moravě. Weathering profiles were excavated, measured, and described from the bedrock up to the terrain on each of these profiles. Samples were analyzed by gamma-ray spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and laser granulometry. The granulometric analysis revealed relatively small variability of the clay fraction. Profiles 191GCB0003, 191GCB0004, and R-1 were dominated by the silt fraction, and profile Z-1 had a similar amount of the silt and sand fraction. The soils of all profiles have been classified as cambi-soil. The CIA index suggests moderate to a medium grade of the weathering. This weathering took place with the alteration of biotite to chlorite and of the feldspar to clay minerals, dominated by kaolinite. Most of the profiles were produced by the weathering of the migmatites in-situ. The only exception is profile 191GCB0003, which was apparently secondary modified downslope transport of the soil, and/or by the addition of the eolithic material. The absolute element distribution of the weathering profiles was affected by the petrographic variability of the migmatites as well as by the different weathering intensity. The distribution of K2O and Na2O was significantly influenced by the amount of the clay minerals formed by the feldspar weathering and by the amount of the chlorite formed as the product decomposition of biotite. Variability in a concentration of Th and U within the individual profiles is significantly affected by the local cumulations of the accessory minerals (mostly bounded in chlorite). There was no evidence for the more considerable cumulation of these radioactive elements within the secondary minerals (e.g. clay minerals). Comparison of different analytical methods (ICP-MS, XRF, and gamma-ray spectrometry) indicate, that Gamma-ray spectrometry permits to more accurate identification concentrations K, Th, and U in the soil-profile in comparison to the XRF method.
