Evaluation of psychometric properties of czech versions of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Fatique Severity Scale (FSS) a Pre-sleep Arousal Scale (PSAS)

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá diagnostikou insomnie a jejím cílem je ověření psychometrických vlastností Škály závažnosti insomnie, ISI (Morin, 1993), Škály závažnosti únavy, FSS (Krupp a kol., 1989) a Škály míry nabuzení před spánkem, PSAS (Nicassio a kol., 1985). V rámci práce byla zkoumána vnitřní reliabilita, konstruktová validita a pomocí explorační a faktorové analýzy také ověřena faktorová struktura daných škál. Výzkumný soubor tvoří 613 respondentů, jež vyplnili anonymní online dotazník rozesílaný skrze sociální sítě. Výsledky ukázaly, že 5,87 % respondentů zažívá příznaky těžké insomnie a 24,95 % respondentů příznaky mírné insomnie. Všechny tři škály vykazují dobrou vnitřní konzistenci a konstruktovou validitu. U škály FSS byla potvrzena jednofaktorová struktura a u škály PSAS dvoufaktorová struktura. Škála ISI vykazuje třífaktorové řešení. Škály ISI, FSS a PSAS se ukázaly jako validní a reliabilní nástroje

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with the diagnosis of insomnia and its aim is to verify the psychometric properties of the Insomnia Severity Scale, ISI (Morin, 1993), the Fatigue Severity Scale, FSS (Krupp et al., 1989) and the Pre-Sleep Arousal Scale, PSAS (Nicassio et al., 1985). Internal reliability and construct validity were examined as part of the work, and the factor structure of the the scales was verified using exploratory and factor analysis. The research sample consists of 613 respondents who filled out an anonymous online questionnaire sent out through social networks. The results showed that 5.87% of respondents experience symptoms of severe insomnia and 24.95% of respondents experience symptoms of mild insomnia. All three scales show good internal consistency and construct validity. A one-factor structure was confirmed for the FSS scale and a two-factor structure for the PSAS scale. The ISI scale shows a three-factor solution. The ISI, FSS and PSAS scales proved to be valid and reliable instruments
