This bachelor thesis focuses on the change in social and religious status of the priestess miko, which happened at the beginning of the Meiji period. The first part explores the origin of the term miko and possible means of writing it down in kanji. Predmetom výskumu tejto práce je zmena v sociálnom a náboženskom postavení kňažiek miko, ktorá nastala na prelome období Edo a Meidži. Prvá časť je zameraná na pôvod samotného pojmu miko a možné spôsoby jeho zápisu v znakoch kandži.
