Intercultural Experiences in Aglaja Veteranyi's "Warum das Kind in der Polenta kocht", Irena Brežná's "Die undankbare Fremde" and Abbas Khider's "Ohrfeige"

Abstract:

Within the scope of this final paper for the double degree program in cooperation with the University of Bayreuth the literary works Warum das Kind in der Polenta kocht from Aglaja Veteranyi, Die undankbare Fremde from Irena Brežná and Ohrfeige from Abbas Khider are analyzed according to the following questions: Which intercultural experiences are made by the protagonists and how do they deal with it? How is this reflected in the form of the literary works? Which statements are made by the works about integration? Therefore how do they criticize the country of arrival and the migrant himself? Eventually the works are compared to each other in these aspects. The objective is to identify the content of integration in the works and which reasons for failure of integration and interculturality the authors describe in their works. The paper is composed in German.

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská práce je výsledkem studia dvojitého diplomu ve spolupráci s Univerzitou Bayreuth. Tématem této práce je analýza, interpretace a porovnání tří literárních děl: "Warum das Kind in der Polenta kocht" od Aglaji Veteranyi, "Die undankbare Fremde" od Ireny Brežné a "Ohrfeige" od Abbase Khidera. Na texty byly kladeny především tyto otázky: Jaké mají hlavní hrdinové zkušenosti s interkulturalitou a jak se k ní staví? Co vypovídají vybraná díla o integraci? Jak je kritizována hostitelská země a země původu? Cílem práce je stanovit, jak je téma integrace a interkulturality v těchto dílech vyjádřeno a jaké důvody vedou podle zmiňovaných literárních textů k nezdařilé integraci cizinců. Práce je vypracována v německém jazyce.
