Corporate Social Responsibility in the Hotel industry

Abstract:

Master thesis ‚Corporate social responsibility (CSR) of companies in hospitality industry‘ focuses on corporate responsibility of the companies and it‘s effect on social wellbeing. The main objective of this thesis is to measure the impact of CSR of two companies – CPI Hotels, a.s. and Tatry Mountain Resorts, a.s. – on their customers and employees. The first part of this thesis introduces the term ‚corporate social responsibility‘ (CSR) and describes the areas where it is applicable, as well as pros and cons of its implementation into the businesses‘ governance and operating framework, and the implementation process as such. The second part of the thesis deals with the impacts CSR has on businesses‘ customers and employees. It especially focuses on problems in the hospitality industry in areas such as equal opportunities for men and women, work-life balance, and fair renumeration – and analyses the effectiveness of implemented CSR in two major hospitality companies – CPI Hotels, a.s. and Tatry Mountain resorts, a.s. The last part of the thesis evaluates (using a questionnaire) the general public’s perception of CSR and it‘s impact on consumer and employees‘ behaviour.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca s názvom „Spoločenská zodpovednosť firiem v hotelovom priemysle“ sa zaoberá analýzou oblastí spoločenskej zodpovednosti s hlavným zameraním na oblasť sociálnu. Za cieľ si dáva zistiť vplyv tohto konceptu na zákazníkov a zamestnancov prostredníctvom dvoch vybraných hotelových spoločností, CPI Hotels, a.s. a Tatry mountain resorts a.s. V práci je čitateľ najskôr oboznámený s pojmom corporate social responsibility, ďalej len „CSR“, inak spoločenská zodpovednosť firiem a s oblasťami, v ktorých sa tento koncept vyskytuje. Uvedené sú tu výhody aj nevýhody prijatia princípov spoločenskej zodpovednosti v podniku. Následne je opísaný implementačný proces konceptu CSR. Práca sa zaoberá vplyvom tohto konceptu na zákazníkov a zamestnancov. Časť diplomovej práce je venovaná sociálnej oblasti spoločenskej zodpovednosti firiem a zaoberá sa tu problémami rovných príležitostí mužov a žien v hotelierstve, vyvážením pracovného a osobného života a problematike odmeňovania v hotelovom priemysle. V práci je analyzovaná sociálna oblasť konceptu CSR dvoch významných hotelových spoločností CPI Hotels, a.s. a Tatry mountain resorts a.s. Súčasťou práce je aj prieskum zameraný na zistenie povedomia verejnosti o koncepte CSR a ďalej na vplyv spoločenskej zodpovednosti na nákupné chovanie spotrebiteľov, a význam konceptu pre zamestnancov.
