Using E-learning to Develop Soft and Language Skills Within an Organization

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the use of e-learning as a tool for developing soft and language skills within an organization. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the perceived effectiveness of e-learning in enhancing employees’ communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, and foreign language competencies, and to identify its main advantages and limitations in the organizational context. The theoretical part provides a literature review focused on employees’ education, the role and impact of skills development on employee performance, and the characteristics of soft and language skills. It further explores the concept of e-learning, its tools, benefits, disadvantages, and limitations in the development of practical competencies. The practical part is based on quantitative research conducted through a questionnaire survey among 100 respondents. The reliability of the research instrument was verified using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that e-learning is positively perceived in the development of soft skills, particularly leadership, communication, and adaptability. However, its effectiveness in improving practical language skills and confidence in professional communication in a foreign language appears to be limited. While employees appreciate the flexibility and self-paced nature of e-learning, they do not consider it equally effective as face-to-face training and highlight the lack of interaction as a significant barrier.
