In presented work we study the interstellar medium in the direction of the star σ Ori E. Theoretical part deals with different forms of interstellar medium, basic concepts from spectroscopy and with Orion OB association, where the studied star is located. V předložené práci studujeme mezihvězdnou látku ve směru hvězdy σ Ori E. Teoretická část se zabývá různými podobami mezihvězdné látky, základními pojmy ze spektrosko- pie a asociací Orion OB, kde se vybraná hvězda nachází.
