This thesis deals with the translation of the short story Mathias Siebenlist and Hundred Lovers´ Castle, which was written by Richard von Schaukal in the period of Viennese Modernism. The theoretical part is dedicated to the problematics of translation. Besides, the thesis mentiones the key traits of Schaukal´s short story, which are important for the determination of the skopos.
