Preparation of zinc oxide nanoparticles and their characterization

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis was the zinc oxide nanoparticle preparation using the different methods. In the theoretical part there is described zinc oxide nanoparticle issue, possible ways of preparation, its application and ways of characterization ZnO nanoparticles. The methods of preparation ZnO nanoparticles and results of size and ?-potential measurements are described in the practical part. Four different methods of precipitation were used during the zinc oxide nanoparticle preparation. The water solutions of ZnSO4, Na2CO3 a NaOH were used in the first method, where 50% of measured particles were below 241,5 nm. The water solutions of dissolved starch, Zn(NO3)2 and NaOH were used in the second method, where 50% of measured particles were below 74,8 nm. In the next third preparation method, there were used water solutions of Zn(NO3)2, ZnCl2, Zn(CH3COO)2 and ZnSO4 with addition of NH4HCO3 in each one solution. In this case 50% of measured particles were below 639,6 nm; 535,6 nm and 173,9 nm for Zn(NO3)2, ZnCl2 and Zn(CH3COO)2 solutions, respectively. 50% of measured particles were below 120,7 nm in ZnSO4 solution and the next 10% were at 92,3 nm. In the last method, there were used Zn(NO3)2 and CO(NH2)2 water solutions with average of 50% and 90% particle percentile at 46,0 nm and 69,7 nm, also respectively. The ?-potential measurement was obtained after manual pH treatment. Isoelectric point of the prepared nanoparticles using the first method was 10,3; in the second method was 9,0 and using the last method was 8,6. The third method with Zn(NO3)2.6H2O precursore has isoelectric point value at 9,2 and the rest of precursors from third method were connected with isoelectric point 10,5.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce bola príprava nanočastíc oxidu zinečnatého rôznymi metódami. V teoretickej časti je popísaná problematika, možné prípravy, využitie a možnosti charakterizácie nanočastíc oxidu zinečnatého. V praktickej časti sú popísané metódy prípravy nanočastíc oxidu zinočnatého, sú tu uvedené dáta z merania veľkosti častíc a zeta potenciálu. Na prípravu nanočastíc oxidu zinočnatého boli využité štyri rôzne zrážacie metódy. V metóde č. 1 boli použité vodné roztoky ZnSO4, Na2CO3 a NaOH. Kedy 50 % nameraných častíc neprekročilo hodnotu 241,5 nm. V metóde č. 2 boli použité vodné roztoky rozpustného škrobu, Zn(NO3)2 a NaOH. Kedy 50 % nameraných častíc neprekročilo hodnotu 74,8 nm. V tretej metóde prípravy boli použité rôzne prekurzory, a to vodné roztoky Zn(NO3)2, ZnCl2, Zn(CH3COO)2, ZnSO4. K jednotlivým roztokom prekurzorov bol pridaný vodný roztok NH4HCO3. Kedy 50 % nameraných častíc neprekročilo hodnotu pri použití prekurzora: Zn(NO3)2 hodnota bola 639,6 nm, ZnCl2 hodnota bola 535,6 nm, Zn(CH3COO)2 hodnota bola 173,9 nm, ZnSO4 bola 120,7 nm a pri 10 % bola hodnota 92,3 nm. V metóde č. 4 boli použité vodné roztoky Zn(NO3)2 a CO(NH2)2. Priemerná nameraná hodnota 50 % percentilu častíc bola 46,0 a pri 90 % percentile 69,7 nm. Meranie zeta potenciálu bolo prevedené po manuálnej úprave pH. Izoelektrický bod pripravených častíc metódou č. 1 je okolo 10,3, metódou č. 2 je 9, metódou č. 4 je 8,6. U metódy č. 3, pri použití prekurzora Zn(NO3)2.6H2O bola hodnota 9,2. U prekurzora ZnCl2, Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O a ZnSO4.7H2O bola hodnota 10,5.
