Learning Styles of Secondary School Students as a Basis of Teacher's Educational Conception

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi užití znalosti učebních stylů žáků střední školy (gymnázia) k zefektivnění výuky. V teoretické části je předložen přehled problematiky stylů učení, jejich dělení a jejich diagnostiky učiteli. Dále jsou prezentovány důležité poznatky z oblasti pojetí výuky, metod a organizačních forem vyučování a obsahů vyučování ve vztahu k práci učitele s učebními styly žáků při přípravě výuky. Empirická část nejprve představuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření (použit Dotazník stylu učení), které bylo provedeno mezi žáky dvou tříd vybraného gymnázia. Výsledky ukazují, že sledovaní žáci vykazují v preferencích stylů učení společné znaky, související s charakterem gymnaziálního studia. Specifika se projevují zejména vysokou vnitřní i rodičovskou motivací a akcentovaným požadavkem samostatnosti a vytrvalostí při učení. Zjištění jsou dále konfrontována s provedeným pozorováním v obou třídách. Dle zjištěných preferencí stylů učení žáků je nakonec navržena koncepce výuky vybraných témat.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with possibilities of use of knowledge of learning styles of secondary school students to make education more effective. In the theoretical part is presented an overview of learning styles, their classification and diagnostic possibilities of teachers in this area. Furthermore, important findings from concepts of teaching, methods and organizational forms of teaching, and teaching contents in relation to the work of teachers with learning styles of students in preparation for teaching are presented. Empirical part presents the results of questionnaire survey (Learning Style Inventory is used), which was administered in two classes of selected secondary school students. The results show that students of the two included classes prefer in learning style some common characteristics, related to nature of general secondary school programs. The specifics are manifested, in particular, in high internal and parental motivation and requirement of autonomy and perseverance while learning. The findings are further confronted with observations in both classes. According to the identified students? learning style preferences is designed the concept of teaching of selected topics.
