Use of PICC catheter in administration of contrast substance during the CT examination

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá využitím PICC katetru při aplikaci kontrastních látek v průběhu CT vyšetření. Teoretická část obsahuje historii kanylace, anatomii a fyziologii žilního systému, žilní vstupy a jejich rozdělení, zejména podle místa zavedení a časového hlediska, následně rozlišení portů a PICC katetru, jejich indikace a kontraindikace zavedení, techniku implantace, možné komplikace a ošetřovatelskou péči, o čemž by měl být edukován každý pacient. Dále se teoretická část zabývá strategií podání kontrastní látky a její kompatibilitou s daným portem nebo PICC katetrem. Na závěr je upřesněno, co je náplní práce radiologického asistenta. Praktická část se skládá z vlastních kazuistik pacientů FN Ostrava, kde je popsána anamnéza pacienta, jaký vstup jim byl implantován, popřípadě jakou cestou, důvod zavedení PICC nebo portu, a jakou rychlostí byla kontrastní látka aplikována.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of PICC catheter in the application of contrast agents during CT examination. The theoretical part contains the history of cannulation, anatomy and physiology of the venous system, venous accesses and their distribution, especially according to the place of insertion and time, then differentiation of ports and PICC catheter, their indications and contraindications of insertion, implantation technique, possible complications and nursing care that every patient should know. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with the strategy of contrast delivery and its compatibility with a given port or PICC catheter. At the end, it is specified what the scope of work of a radiographer is. The practical part consists of the case studies of patients at the University Hospital of Ostrava, which describes the patient's history, what input was implanted or in what way, the reason of insertion of PICC or port, and at what speed was the contrast agent applied.
