Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „The Roles and Actions of English Teachers in Alternative Schooling” se zabývá výukou anglického jazyka, jakožto cizího jazyka v alternativních školách v Brně s důrazem na problematiku rolí učitele a působení učitele ve výuce anglického jazyka. Teoretická část práce zahrnuje představení jednotlivých alternativních škol, specifika výuky anglického jazyka, role učitele a působení učitele ve výuce anglického jazyka v těchto školách. Kromě toho, jsou tyto aspekty diskutovány v propojení s obecnými principy výuky anglického jazyka, s důrazem na předem zmíněná témata. Praktická část této práce je zaměřena na kvalitativní výzkum v základních alternativních školách nebo základních školách s alternativním přístupem k výuce anglického jazyka. Výsledky výzkumu vychází z pozorování výuky v těchto školách a z rozhovorů s vyučujícími. Hlavními oblastmi zkoumání jsou role učitele anglického jazyka, získávání a udržení pozornosti žáků, a komunikace s žáky, které jsou diskutovány v propojení s poznatky v teoretické části.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis „The Roles and Actions of English Teachers in Alternative Schooling “ analyses the teaching of English as a foreign language in alternative primary schools in Brno with the emphasis on the roles and actions of English teachers. The introduction of the alternative schools, the aims of ELT in different alternative schools, and roles of the teacher and teacher’s actions as an influential factor in ELT is being described in the theoretical part. Furthermore, all these aspects are being interconnected and analysed with the regard to general principles of ELT with the emphasis on the above-mentioned topic. The practical part of this thesis is focused on qualitative research in the alternative schools in Brno or primary schools with alternative approach to English teaching. Concerning the theoretical part, the data from the observations in alternative schools and interviews with the teachers of English are being discussed with the emphasis on teacher’s roles and actions. Thus, following aspects of ELT are being included- the roles of the teacher, talking to pupils, and getting and maintaining attention of pupils.
