Trends in wage gaps in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem a povahou mzdových nerovností v ČR. Práce si klade za cíl zjistit, jakého charakteru nabývají mzdové nerovnosti v kontextu změn v zaměstnanosti v rámci sektorů průmyslu a služeb. Povaha mzdových rozdílů je analyzována jak z celkového hlediska jejich vývoje, tak i v rámci jednotlivých ekonomických sektorů a v souvislosti genderem a úrovní vzdělání zaměstnanců v těchto sektorech zahrnutých. Do teoretické části jsou zahrnuty teorie pojednávající o postindustriální a vzdělanostní společnosti a také teorie tří sektorů. V souvislosti s výzkumnými cíli jsou do této části zahrnuty i koncepty vztahující se ke vzdělanostním a genderovým rozdílům. Analýza je provedena pomocí kvantilových hodnot a podílů, variačního koeficientu a mnohonásobné lineární regrese. Struktura analýzy vychází ze stanovených hypotéz. Data, na základě kterých je analýza provedena, pocházejí z Výběrového šetření pracovních sil.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the evolution and the nature of wage inequality in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the thesis is to find out the nature of wage inequality in the context of changes in employment in industrial and service sectors. The nature of the wage gap is analyzed not only in the terms of overall development, but also in economic sectors and in the relation to gender and the level of education of workers in these sectors included. The theoretical part includes theories of post-industrial society, knowledge society and three-sector hypothesis. According to the research goals, the concepts related to educational and gender differences are included in this section. The analysis is performed by quintiles, the variation coefficient and multiple linear regression. The structure of analysis is based on the defined hypotheses. The analyzed data were derived from the Labor Force Survey.
