Correlation between subjective problems and clinical findings in persons with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Abstract:

Cílem této prospektivní studie bylo zjistit stupeň korelace mezi tíží a intenzitou subjektivních potíží pacientů trpících syndromem karpálního tunelu (mužů i žen, pracujících v riziku JNZ, ale i mimo něj) a EMG nálezy. Sběr subjektivních dat byl prováděn pomocí dotazníku se zaměřením na složku senzitivních i motorických příznaků. Dále jsou zpracovány výsledky dotazníku a elektrofyziologického vyšetření u souboru 230 osob. Byl zjištěn statisticky významný rozdíl u osob s fyziologickým a pozitivním EMG nálezem a výskytem těchto subjektivních potíží: parestezie palce, ukazováčku a prostředníčku; probouzení se v noci nebo ráno pro brnění ruky s úlevou po rozcvičení; pocit ranní necitlivosti prstů, která může být až bolestivá; hubnutí ruky zejména v okolí palce, v důsledku úbytku svaloviny a zhoršená šikovnost ruky při jemných úkonech. Dále byl zjištěn statisticky významný rozdíl u osob s fyziologickým a pozitivním EMG nálezem a výskytem iritačních, iritačních + zánikových, zánikových příznaků a osob bez příznaků.

Abstract:

The aim of this prospective study was to detect a correlation between intensity of subjective problems of patiens suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome (men and women which work in hazardous work conditions, but also out them) and EMG discovery. Gathering was made by questionnaire research targeted on sensitive and motoric symptoms. The practical part presents the results of the questionnaire research and elektrophysiological exam at a pool of 230 persons. We had identified statistic significant difference between persons with physiological and positive EMG finding and appearance of those subjective problems: pins and needles feeling in thumb, forefinger and middle finger, wakeing up during the night or at a morning because of pins and needles hand, insensibility of fingers at the morning which can be painful, tabescence of hand mainly round about a thumb and worse handiness of hand. We also identified statistic significant difference between persons with physiological and positive EMG finding and incidence sensitive, sensitive+motoric and motoric symptoms and persons without any of those symptoms.
