Intersection of needs of employer from Czech branch of the international IT company with the needs of employees in the period before / during / after the maternity/parental leave in the context of work-life balance

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi slaďování pracovního a rodinného života v organizaci v kontextu naplňování potřeb zaměstnavatele a zaměstnanců. Cílem práce je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jak se protínají potřeby vedení / zaměstnavatele české pobočky mezinárodní IT firmy s potřebami zaměstnanců v období před / v průběhu a po mateřské a rodičovské dovolené v oblasti harmonizace pracovního a rodinného života?“ V úvodní části práce se věnuji základním teoretickým konceptům, jež se týkají harmonizace pracovního a rodinného života, potřebám zaměstnanců a zaměstnavatelů v daném kontextu, rodičovské a mateřské dovolené a dalším pojmům a faktorům, jež s danou problematikou souvisí. Tato východiska tvořila základ pro samotný empirický výzkum. Metodologická část je věnována popisu metody a strategie výzkumu, technice sběru dat, jednotce zkoumání a zjišťování, průběhu získávání dat, charakteristice komunikačních partnerů, možným omezením výzkumu a v neposlední řadě etickým aspektům. V empirické části pak interpretuji výsledky kvalitativního výzkumu provedeného s dvanácti respondenty založeného na technice polo-strukturovaného rozhovoru. Snahou této části je zjistit, zda a jak se protínají potřeby zaměstnavatele reprezentovaného zástupci HR manažerů a vedoucích manažerů a s potřebami zaměstnanců v období před/v průběhu a po mateřské a rodičovské dovolené. Nejdůležitější zjištění shrnuje závěrečná diskuze.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the possibilities of reconciling work and family life in the context of the organization in meeting the needs of employers and employees. The aim is to answer the research question: „How do needs of the employer of Czech branch of the international IT company intersect with the needs of employees in the period before / during / and after maternity and parental leave in the work-life balance?“ The introductory part is devoted to the basic theoretical concepts concerning the harmonization of work and family life (work-life balance concept), the needs of employees and employers in a given context, parental and maternity leave and other terms and factors that relate to the issue. These concepts formed the basis for the actual empirical research. The methodological section is devoted to describing the methods and strategies of research, data collection techniques, drive exploration and discovery, during data acquisition, the characteristics of the communication partners, potential limitations of research, and finally the ethical aspects. In the empirical part we interpret the results of qualitative research conducted with twelve respondents based on the technique of semi - structured interview. The aim of this section is to determine whether and how the needs of employers represented by representatives of HR managers and senior managers and the needs of employees intersect in the period before / during and after maternity leave. The most important findings are summarized in a final discussion.
