The bachelor thesis deals with the art work of the Swedish artist Hilma af Klint, whose paintings are now recognized by many as the first abstract paintings in Europe. The thesis analyses the cultural-historical contexts of development of abstract painting represented by af Klint and especially by Wassily Kandinsky.
