Relationships between spring vegetation and environment chemistry in West-Bohemian mineral-spring region

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem chemismu prostředí a vegetace na prameništích západočeské zřídelní oblasti. Prameniště mají v této oblasti rozmanité chemické složení vody (některá z nich se vyznačují vyšší koncentrací kovů ve vodě) a tyto vztahy mezi chemismem vody a vegetací nejsou v současnosti příliš prostudovány. K objasnění vztahů mezi chemismem prostředí a vegetací bylo v této práci vybráno 53 lokalit, z nichž 28 je lučních a 25 lesních. Na všech lokalitách byly zapisovány fytocenologické snímky, měřeno pH a konduktivita. Na lučních lokalitách byly odebírány vzorky vody a biomasy mechorostů a cévnatých rostlin, na lesních prameništích byly pořizovány hemisférické fotografie. Na studovaných lokalitách se prokázal vliv chemismu vody, pH vody průkazný vliv na všechny lokality mělo. i další stanovištní podmínky ovlivňují variabilitu vegetace studovaných pramenišť, jako množství světla procházejícího přes koruny stromů a zápoj stromového patra. Samotná pokryvnost stromového patra měla vliv i na mechové patro, konkrétně na počet druhů ve snímcích a jeho pokryvnost. Mechorosty reagovaly na stanovištní podmínky více než cévnaté rostliny i v rámci lučních lokalit. Ukázalo se, že jednotlivé chemické vlastnosti vody lučních pramenišť jsou spolu korelovány (např. konduktivita korelovala s množstvím draslíku, sodíku a síranů ve vodě). Rovněž některé chemické vlastnosti vody korelují s koncentracemi živin v biomase (např. koncentrace hořčíku a amoniakálního dusíku ve vodě a v biomase mechů nebo koncentrace vápníku ve vodě a cévnatých rostlinách). Byly zjištěny i korelace mezi chemismem vegetace mechorostů a cévnatých rostlin (např. korelace koncentrace vápníku v cévnatých s koncentracemi vápníku, draslíku a železa v mechorostech). Podobné vztahy mezi gradienty vegetace a chemismem vegetace a vody byly zjištěny i v Západních Karpatech, Německu a Holandsku, výsledky získané ze studovaného území naznačují, že by tyto vztahy mohly mít obecnou platnost. Studovaná prameniště jsou vzhledem k těmto výsledků jistě vhodná i k dalšímu studiu

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the relationship between chemistry of environment and vegetation in West Bohemia spring fen area. Springs in this area have various water chemistry (especially some of them have higher concentrations of metals in water) and relationship between vegetation and chemistry of environment are not well known currently. In study area were chosen 53 localities (28 unforested and 25 forested) to investigate this relationship. At all localities were taken phytosociological relevés and pH and conductivity were measured. At unforested sites were taken water samples and biomass samples of bryophytes and vascular plants. At forested spring fens were taken hemispherical photographies. At all localities pH had significant effect on vegetation, as well light passing through the tree layer and canopy tree layer. Coverage of bryophyte layer and number of their species in relevés on studied localities were influenced also by canopy tree layer. Bryophytes responses to chemistry of environment stronger than vascular plants as well on unforested sites. It seems that in the study area there are relationships between water chemistry together (for example water conductivity correlates with the concentrations of sodium, potassium and sulphates in water). As well in the study area there are relations between water chemistry and concentrations of elements in biomass (for instance concentrations of magnesium and ammonium ion in bryophyte biomass correlate with this elements in water or concentration of calcium in vascular plants correlate with concentration of this elements in water). There were also found relationships between concentrations of some elements in biomass together (for example concentration of calcium in vascular plants correlates with concentration od calcium, potassium and iron in mosses). Similar relationships between vegetation gradients and chemistry of water and vegetation were found in West Carpatians, Germany and The Netherlands, this results may indicate that these relations have general validity. Spring fens in West Bohemia are certainly suitable to further studies.
