Fascism and Fine Arts

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývala terminologií slova fašismus, jeho vznikem a dělením. Soustředíme se i na jeho druhou tvář a sice nacismus, který našel příhodnou půdu v Německu. Geograficky se tedy práce vztahuje z jedné části na německé území a určitá část textu pojednává i o Itálii, která je matkou fašismu. Časově hovoříme o období druhé světové války, která skončila roku 1945 kapitulací Německa a zároveň tak ukončila éru fašismu. Zaměřili jsme se na umění jako formu propagandy a na filozofii, která se stala inspirací pro základní pilíře nacistické ideologie. Do střetu s nacistickými idejemi se dostali modernisté, jejichž díla byla Třetí říší nemilosrdně ničena. Na toto konto vznikla výstava ,,degenerovaného“ či také ,,zvrhlého umění“, dávající na odiv pro nacisty nevhodné a nepřípustné umění, popírající jejich vize. Po vpádu nacistického Německa do českých zemí, vznikl protektorát Čechy s Morava. Vzhledem k faktu, že se jednalo o nedobrovolné okleštění českých zemí začal vznikat boj proti fašismu. Účastnila se ho jak scéna divadelní, tak i výtvarná, zapojil se rozhlas a kinematografie. Významnou roli v tomto období sehrála literatura, která přinášela v tak těžkých časech lidem útěchu ve formě tištěného slova.

Abstract:

In my thesis I focus on the phenomena of fascism, its word terminology, creation and subdivisions. I also dealt with its other side, that of Nazism, which found its breeding ground in Germany. Geographically, part of the thesis covers the German territory, yet the text also discusses Italy, the fatherland of fascism. In terms of time we speak about the period between Wars and the World War II, ending 1945 with the defeat of Germany and the abolition of fascism. The thesis dealt with the art as being a paradigm of propagandism, and with the philosophy that prepossessed the fundamentals for Nazism. The Nazi ideas toughly clashed with the ideas of modernists and their works were ruthlessly destroyed by the leaders of the Third Empire. The exhibition of the “deteriorated” and “perverse” art was set up to show off the inappropriateness and inadmissibility of the movement, that was denying the Nazi visions. With the Nazi Germany invading Bohemia and Moravia ‘Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren’ (the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia) was set up. In the view of the fact that this was an enforced abridgement the resistance to fascism came to life – and both the theatre and fine arts ensemble, radio-broadcast and cinematography participated and got engaged. Literature also played an important role of bringing the consoling printed word to the people in the hard times of the occupation.
