Careerist in the novels by Stendhal, Flaubert and Maupassant

Abstract:

This work deals with the heroes of the novels by three French authors of the 19th century, Julien Sorel, Frédéric Moreau and Georges Duroy who are generally perceived as the careerists. The aim of the work is to prove the validity of that view, noting also the environment in which the heroes of Le Rouge et le Noir, L´Education sentimentale and Bel-Ami are going through, and which influence their characters and their ambitions. Based on the theory built on the sociological level, the development of this work comments the evolution of the protagonists and the nature of their careerism.

Abstract:

Táto práca sa zaoberá hrdinami románov troch francúzskych autorov 19. storočia, Julienom Sorelom, Frédéricom Moreauom a Georgesom Duroy, všeobecne vnímanými ako karieristi. Cieľom práce je dokázať oprávnenosť tohto názoru, všímajúc si zároveň prostredia, ktorými hrdinovia románov Le Rouge et le Noir, L´Education sentimentale a Bel-Ami prechádzajú, a ktoré formujú ich povahu a ambície. Na základe teórie, vybudovanej na sociologickej rovine, je vo vlastnom jadre komentovaný vývoj jednotlivých postáv, a charakter ich arivizmu.
