The Temptation of Romantic Coherence: Routine and Revolution in Experimental Theater

Abstract:

Dizertace, na základě konkrétního příkladu, zkoumá možnosti a podmínky vzorů soudržnosti. Studuje to, jak něco drží pohromadě nebo se rozpadá. Činí tak prostřednictvím popisu a rozboru konkrétního případu – experimentálního divadla. Etnografická studie, založená na pozorovatelské účasti a na teoretických inspiracích z oblastí teorie aktérů-sítí, sémiotiky materiality a studií času a rytmů, zkoumá „rutinu a revoluci“ v divadelním prostředí. Zejména potom jednu konkrétní revoluci proti uměleckému vedení, které bylo „sesazeno“ a postupně nahrazeno novým. Dizertace si klade otázku, jak k tomuto rozpadu původně koherentního světa došlo, jaké strategie byly mobilizovány v době krize a jaké v současnosti, kdy existuje snaha situaci stabilizovat a upravit tak, aby bylo znovu dosaženo koherence. Text má ambici, na nejobecnější rovině, abstrahovat znalosti, zvětšovat zásobárny citlivostí a tím přispět k obohacování kolektivního rozumění soudržnosti.

Abstract:

The dissertation, on a specific example, examines the possibilities and conditions of coherence patterns. The dissertation studies how something holds together or falls apart. It does so through the description and analysis of a specific case - experimental theatre. An ethnographic study, based on observant participation and theoretical inspirations from the areas of actor-network theory, material semiotics, and the study of time and rhythmanalysis, examines "routine and revolution" in a theatrical setting. In particular, then, one specific revolution against artistic management that was "deposed" and replaced by a new one. The dissertation raises the question of how this disintegration of the originally coherent world, took place. What strategies were mobilized in times of crisis and what strategies are mobilized nowadays in an effort to stabilize the situation? The text has the ambition, at the most general level, to abstract knowledge, increase the reservoirs of sensitivities and thus contribute to the enrichment of the collective understanding of the concept of coherence.
