Childhood in the years of national socialism, a lecture design for specialized knowledge in German as a foreign language

Abstract:

A Bachelor´s thesis focused on the topic of childhood during the National Socialism. The thesis deals with upbringing and education of children during the period of National Socialism in Germany from 1933 to 1945. Its theroretical part stems from literature retrieval and its background research, and addresses the conditions for the spread out of National Socialism throughout Germany. Further part of the thesis is focused on the role of family, school and the Hitlerjugend youth organization during the time mentioned, and tries, in the follow-up sections, to find a solution to the question why so many of young generation have been influenced by the national-socialistic ideas. The practical part of the Bachelor´s thesis is a narrative interview with a witness who has grown up during the national-socialistic period. These reminiscences are documented using the oral history method, and later analysed and interpreted. The thesis has two objectives. The first one is to give answer to the question of how did a regular life of the youth look like during the period mentioned, how the children were influenced by the system and whether the witness´ reminiscences match with data from professional literature. The further objective of the thesis is to give suggestions for the inclusion of this topic into the teaching of German language in Czech schools. These suggestions are focused on giving momentum to the development of linguistic competences in speech-related skills and working with text, i.e. the understanding of the text being read.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce na téma Dětství v národním socialismu. Práce se zabývá výchovou a vzděláváním v období národního socialismu v Německu v letech 1933-1945. V teoretické části práce vychází z odborné literatury a její rešerše. Zabývá se podmínkami pro rozšíření národního socialismu v Německu. V další části se zabývá úlohou rodiny, školy a mládežnické organizace Hitlerjugend v této době. V dalších kapitolách řeší ovlivnění mladé generace národně-socialistickými myšlenkami. V praktické částí bakalářské práce je narativní rozhovor s pamětníkem, který vyrůstal o období národního socialismu. Tyto vzpomínky jsou zdokumentovány metodou orální historie a následně analyzovány a interpretovány. Práce má dva cíle. Prvním z nich je odpovědět na otázky, jak vypadal běžný život mládeže v tomto období, jak byly děti tímto systémem ovlivněny a zda vzpomínky pamětníka odpovídají odborné literatuře. Dalším cílem práce jsou pak návrhy pro použití tohoto tématu ve výuce německého jazyka v českých školách. Tyto návrhy jsou především podněty pro rozvoj jazykových kompetencí v oblasti řečových dovedností a o práci s textem, tedy rozvoj porozumění čteného textu.
