The process of coming out and the ways of homosexual identity formation

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo utváření homosexuální identity v kontextu coming outu. Snažila jsem se poukázat na heteronormativní uspořádání společnosti, diskurzivní pojetí genderu a stávající teorie coming outu, které ovlivňují utváření jedincovy subjektivity s homosexuální orientací. Pro tuto práci byl především důležitý Latourův teoretizující text How to Talk About the Body, jež poskytuje způsob, jak jinak přemýšlet o utváření jedincovy subjektivity a vyhnout se tak myšlenkám radikálního konstruktivismu. Práce je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu v podobě případových studií, realizována prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s dvěma muži a dvěma ženami, jež dokazují, že utváření homosexuální identity je individuálním a komplexním procesem. Formování homosexuální identity v kontextu coming outu je pro jedince v heteronormativní společnosti většinou obtížné, zejména při vyjádření se o své homosexulitě rodině a přátelům.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis was the formation of homosexual identity in the context of coming out. I tried to point out to heteronormative organization of society, discursive concepts of gender and existing theories of coming out, influencing the formation of individual subjectivity with a homosexual orientation. Latour's theorizing text How to Talk About the Body was primarily important for this work, providing the way to think differently about the formation of subjectivity individual and avoid the concept of radical constructivism. The work is based on qualitative research in the form of case studies realized through semistructured interviews with two men and two women, proving that the formation of homosexual identity is the individual and complex process. The formation of homosexual identity in the context of coming out is for individuals mostly difficult in heteronormative society, particularly in the sharing of their homosexuality with family and friends.
