Cytological examination of the cervix and its correlation with histopathological findings

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou vyšetření děložního čípku pomocí cytologických a histopatologických metod. V teoretické části je popisována děloha, konkrétně její anatomická a histologická stavba a také její fyziologie a mikroflóra. Další kapitoly se věnují onemocněním vagíny, cervixu a endometria. Je zde také zmíněn cervikální gynekologický screening, cytologická klasifikace Bethesda a cytologické metody vyšetření a jedna kapitola je věnována imunohistochemii. V praktické části jsou zpracována data obsahující údaje o počtech cytologických a histologických vyšetření za měsíc únor v letech 2020-2022. Hlavním cílem bylo objasnit korelaci mezi cytologickými a histopatologickými metodami při vyšetření děložního čípku. Z dostupných dat vyplývá, že tyto metody jsou velmi úzce provázané a pro správnou diagnózu je zapotřebí použít nejdříve cytologické vyšetření jako plošný screening a v případě podezření na onemocnění použít histopatologické vyšetření pro upřesnění nálezu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis covers the problem of cervical examination by cytological and histopathological methods. The theoretical part describes the uterus, specifically its anatomical and histological structure, as well as its physiology and microflora. The next chapters deal with diseases of the vagina, cervix and endometrium. Cervical screening and the Bethesda cytological classification, cytological methods of examination are also mentioned, and a chapter on histochemistry is included. In the practical part, data containing the numbers of cytological and histological examinations for the month of February 2020- 2022 are presented. The main aim was to clarify the correlation between cytological and histopathological methods in cervical examination. The available data show that these methods are very closely interrelated and for a correct diagnosis, cytological examination should be used first as a panel screening and in case of suspected disease, histopathological examination should be used to refine the findings.
