Technical principles and procedures used to reduce radiation dose during CT scans

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřená na zjištění a popsání hlavních technických pokroků, které snižují pacientům absorbovanou dávku ionizujícího záření během vyšetření na výpočetním tomografu. Cílem této práce je vysvětlit jednotlivé systémy, jejich historický vývoj a efektivitu pro snížení radiační zátěže při vyšetření pacienta. V praktickém měření na fantomu doložíme míru redukce šumu při použití iterativní rekonstrukce v porovnání s filtrovanou zpětnou rekonstrukcí obrazu.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on identifying and describing the major technical advances that reduce the patient's absorbed dose of ionizing radiation during examination using computational tomography. The aim of this thesis is to explain the various systems, their historical development and efficiency to reduce the radiation exposure of the patient. In practical measurements on the phantom it will be demonstrated noise reduction when using iterative reconstruction compared with filtered back projection image reconstruction.
