The music culture in the area of Boskovice in years 1848 - 1948 focused on society activities

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce zpracovává světskou hudební kulturu v Boskovicích, jejíž kořeny sahají do 19. století. Zabývá se koncertním a hudebním životem v letech 1848 až 1948. Hlavní stať je rozdělena do pěti kapitol. První popisuje počátky světské hudby v Boskovicích a uvádí činnost vojenského oddílu národní gardy, ve kterém se zrodila světská hudební tradice města. Předmětem zájmu druhé kapitoly práce je sborový zpěv v místních spolcích, které vznikaly v souvislosti s národním osvobozováním a vydáním tzv. Říjnového diplomu. Podílely se na rozvoji umělecké činnosti města pořádáním různých koncertů, besed a přednášek. Třetí kapitola se věnuje městské hudbě v Boskovicích a uvádí jednotlivé kapelníky. Následující kapitola zpracovává hudbu orchestrální spojenou s činností Orchestrálního sdružení Boskovicka a symfonického orchestru Antonína Nadymáčka. Závěrečná kapitola je shrnutím kulturního dění města Boskovice v období 1848 až 1948. Samotná práce je obohacena o jmenný seznam boskovických hudebníků a o obrazovou přílohu zařazenou v závěru práce.

Abstract:

The presented thesis is an analysis of the secular music culture in the town of Boskovice, its roots reaching back to the 19th Century. It concentrates on the concert and music life in the years 1848 to 1948. The main part is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the beginnings of secular music in Boskovice and presents the activities of the military division of the National Guard, where the first aspects of the town’s tradition of secular music were born. The second chapter of the thesis concentrates on the choir in the music societies, which were established in connection to the national liberation and the publishing of the so called October Diploma. These music societies played a large role in the development of the artistic activities of the town through the organisation of various concerts, forums and seminars. The third chapter is devoted to the urban music in the town of Boskovice and lists the names of the individual bandmasters. The next chapter speaks of the orchestral music, which is interlinked to the activities of the Orchestral Association of Boskovice and the symphonic orchestra of Antonin Nadýmaček. The final chapter concludes the cultural activities of the town of Boskovice in the years 1848 to 1948. In the attachment to the thesis a list of the musicians of the town of Boskovice and picture documentation can be found.
