Modification of biofeedback in patients after low rectal resection

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je navrhnout zlepšení pooperační inkontinence stolice u pacientů, kteří podstoupili nízkou resekci rekta s diagnózou karcinom rekta. Teoretická část popisuje diagnózu, anatomii rekta, typy samotné operace a výsledný problém pacientů. Hlavní pozornost je zaměřena na reálné případové studie se zvláštním zájmem věnovanému nástupu pooperační inkontinence stolice. Porovnání skutečných výsledků za použití permanentního katétru a také v kombinované metodě rehabilitace s využitím irigace rekta. Výzkumná část obsahuje výsledky z retrospektivního a prospektivního sběru dat u skupiny pacientů, kteří podstoupili metodu modifikovaného biofeedbacku se skupinou, která neměla možnost praktikovat tuto rehabilitaci. Data byla zaznamenávána do záznamových archů, které byly následně vyhodnoceny pomocí grafů. Tato část se snaží ověřit efektivitu metody modifikovaného biofeedbacku v praxi, protože s narůstající incidencí karcinomu v oblasti nízkého rekta klesá věková hranice pacientů.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma work is to put forward suggestions for the improvement of post operation care and the recovery of patients who have undergone lower anal resection. Also contained in this work is a summary of diagnosis, anatomy, pre-operation the operation itself and resulting problem. The main focus of this paper is based upon real case studies with particular interest being given to the onset of post- operative stool incontinence, comparing the real results of using a permanent catheter in a combination method of rehabilitation or utilising rectum irrigation with the same the combination method elements. The research part contains results from retrospective and prospective data collection in a group of patients who underwent a modified biofeedback method with a group that did not have the opportunity to practice this rehabilitation. The data were recorded in record sheets, which were then evaluated using graphs. This part tries to verify the effectiveness of the modified biofeedback method in practice.
