Regulation of the European Railway Market

Abstract:

The aim of the master thesis named Regulation of the European Railway Market is to identify and justify different approaches to the regulation of the European railway market in the selected European union member states. The motivation of this thesis is to response the question, why some countries succeeded in term of liberalization of the national railways and some still have the railway market more or less without the competition. This thesis is focused on the political aspects of the implementation of European railway directives, in the role of a state and in the role of different lobby groups.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce s názvom Regulace evropského železničního trhu je identifikovať a zdôvodniť rozdielne prístupy k regulácií železničného odvetvia vo vybraných krajinách Európskej únie. Motiváciou práce je zodpovedať na otázku, prečo niektoré krajiny v liberalizácií svojich železníc uspeli a iné majú železničný trh viac-menej bez konkurencie. Práca je sústredená na politické aspekty implementácie európskych železničných smerníc, na úlohu štátu a rôznych lobistických skupín.
