Social Networks and its marketing potential for Small and Medium enterprises (SME)

Abstract: The thesis analyzes the use of social media marketing in the business practice of Russian entities. The findings of the thesis prove that as of today effective social media marketing is a key prerequisite for any entity to become successful in its business. In the practical part of the thesis, three Russian webstores were analyzed, namely Yarmarka, Bretelye and Flor2U. The analysis carried out testifies that the companies have significant drawbacks in terms of the application of their SMM activities. Russian SMEs are recommended to adopt a more thorough and systemic approach to their SMM practices in order to guarantee long-term stability and successfulness in the performance of their online marketing practices. Other recommendations include need to ensure greater involvement of employees in SMM practices, and some more creative communication with customers in online social networks.
