Contemporary trends in MCMC samplers convergence testing

Abstract:

The objective of the master thesis “Contemporary trends in MCMC samplers convergence testing” is to analyze the currently available and applied methods for convergence detection of Markov Chain Monte Carlo samplers and to identify the potential limits of their applicability. The thesis consists of the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains a thorough definition of the selected convergence assessment methods as well as other relevant terms associated with this issue. The practical part follows with the application of the chosen methods on model examples and critically evaluates the results separately and between the methods.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce „Aktuálne prístupy k testovaniu konvergencie MCMC vzorkovačov“ je preskúmať v súčasnosti dostupné a využívané metódy pre detekciu konvergencie Markov Chain Monte Carlo vzorkovačov a identifikovať potenciálne limity ich použiteľnosti. Práca pozostáva z teoretickej a praktickej časti. V rámci teoretickej časti sú podrobne vymedzené jednotlivé konvergenčné diagnostiky a taktiež ďalšie relevantné pojmy vzťahujúce sa k danej téme. V praktickej časti sú následne dané metódy aplikované na modelové príklady a výsledky jednotlivých metód sú kriticky zhodnotené samostatne aj porovnaním metód medzi sebou.
